Soajo (Cunhas Viewpoint)
Soajo (Cunhas Viewpoint)
Inserted in the Natural Heritage of the Municipality, the Viewpoint of Cunhas dominates a spectacular horseshoe-shaped curve of the river Lima (known as the “U” of the river) engraved in the landscape. This viewpoint offers an incredible view over the meanders of the river Lima, a magnificent place and a must-stop on the “Trilho do Contrabando” route that connects Soajo to Várzea, and which received its name because it was the usual way to bring and take goods. consumption on both sides of the border.
Right in front, village of Cidadelhe and its haystacks can be seen. River Lima here runs “small” after passing through the Lindoso reservoir, plowing the land and forming a winding canyon.
A little further on, continuing along the same road towards Várzea, we have some viewpoints that allow us to see Lindoso, its dam and also Olelas, on the Galician side, in the municipality of Entrimo. This area is part of the “Gerês-Xurés” Transfrontier Biosphere Reserve (RBTGX).
