Located above the village of Bóveda, in the municipality of Vilar de Barrio, it is the best viewpoint to understand the dimensions of the extinct Lagoa da Antela. From a leisure area that is easily accessible by vehicle, we can see an extension of more than twenty kilometers around. With the Serra de San Mamede behind us, the source of the Lima River paralleling Monte Talariño to the south and the beautiful Veiga de Ponteliñares at sunset.
This strategic location between the Lima and Arnoia valleys led several researchers to investigate “Monte do Castelo”. A unique archaeological site in Galicia with more than 15 hectares and 2000 years.

Next to the viewpoint, in the archaeological site, a set of hollow formations appeared, which soon became known as “the holes of the Moors”. Multiple versions of the mystical issue, although they all seem to agree that a hen with 12 chicks got into them. Of these, 11 went to different places: Torre de Sandiás, city of Antioquía, Allariz, etc.
Information of interest
Access by car is easy from the center of Bóveda. It is recommended to visit the viewpoint at the last moment of the day and enjoy one of the best sunsets in A Limia.
