Centro Histórico de Viana do Castelo
Centro Histórico de Viana do Castelo
The historic center of Viana, with its narrow streets, harmonious façades and tiled paintings, is one of the country’s largest urban heritage sites, as well as home to thousands of tourists every year, attracted by its cafes, by its streets and museums.
In this sense, we highlight the Igreja Matriz (Cathedral, with Romanesque and Gothic elements), the old Paço do Concelho, or the Casa da Misericórdia. From the coast to Santa Luzia, we can trace an itinerary that takes us to the Fort of Santiago da Barra, to the Igreja da Agonia, or to São Domingos; at the Museum of Decorative Arts (collections of ancient Portuguese ceramics, painting, design and decorative art from the XVI-XIX centuries), at the Gil Eannes Ship or at the Cultural Center (built by the famous architect Siza Vieira): at Praça da Liberdade, at the Museu do Costume (with popular costumes used in the parades of the popular festivals of Agonia) or at Praça da República (S-XVI)
But there is much more. A city known for its participation in the Portuguese discoveries in the 15th and 16th centuries, and for being the fishing port of cod fish, for its accessibility, safety and comfort, allied to its climate and heritage, culture, leisure and sports, we believe that the chances of success are important. Capital of Lima, elegant, colorful, discoverer, much renovated and full of pleasant surprises, this is Viana do Castelo.
