On 21 October 2022, the second of the gastronomic events framed in the Fronteira Esquecida project was held at the Forte de Santiago da Barra, in the municipality of Viana do Castelo.
This event, called “Gastronomia Lima-Limia“, was structured as a seminar on gastronomy, heritage and tourism around the Lima-Limia river, with the presence of different representatives of the project partners.
After the institutional welcome by Luís Nobre, President of the Câmara Municipal de Viana do Castelo, the Deputation of Ourense reviewed the main results obtained in the framework of the project.
Subsequently, it was the turn of interventions such as those of Carlos Fernandes (Professor Coordernador do Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo e Juíz da Confraria de Gastrónomos do Minho), or Paula Abreu (Projeto Casa do Sorrio), who stressed the importance of quality and tradition, local supply, innovation, differentiation and especially that of offering experiences beyond the food itself, where the history, the story and the training of staff are essential aspects for the enhancement of the territory.
Luís Pedro Martins, President of Turismo Porto e Norte de Portugal, closed the Seminar by stressing the need to balance innovation and tradition, and to promote the value of resources based on quality and promotion.
The event ended with the celebration of a lunch offered by the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Viana do Castelo, where attendees were able to enjoy different dishes prepared with characteristic products related to the river Lima-Limia.
